Galway City has fallen and no one told Mike Scott
I was in Galway last night to see ‘The Waterboys’ in a large marquee on the old airport site.
I first saw them in Waterford in 1985.
Scotsman, Mike Scott is ‘The Waterboys’.
A superb evening of music was had by all, with honorary Galwayman, Mike Scott blazing a trail through his magnificent back catalogue.
I loved every second of it, well maybe not every second…
Before one of the songs, Mike seemingly ad-libbed a story about an old busker he had befriended and busked with in Galway back in the 1980’s.
He loved this guy’s vocal interpretations of old favourites on Shop Street and was dedicating the next song to his memory.
The punchline to this tale was that, one day the two of them decamped to a local hostelry and after indulging in some reefer and red wine, the named busker tried to convince Mike as to the benefits of Christianity and the comfort received from offering your life up to the Lord.
Mike laughed dismissively at the end of his anecdote.
Seemingly no one had updated Mike as to the current state of Galway city.
Galway has fallen.
The Galway that Mike embraced in the 1980’s and 1990’s is dead and gone.
The musical heritage of Galway that he plundered, developed and brought to the world is now reaching the point of stage Irishness, with only the old traditional families keeping it alive outside the city.
Mike, let me tell you that it’s quite likely in our lifetime that you will no longer be able to see “The Whole of the Moon” in Galway but will have to settle for the Crescent Moon of Islam flying over city hall.
A walk through the city centre will confirm that, along with the fact that ‘Muhammad’ was the most popular boys name registered in the city in 2022.
Not too many other Galway people laughed at the end of Mike’s ‘humorous’ anecdote presumably because they are aware that Fr. Paul Murphy, a Catholic priest based in Galway had been lucky to escape with his life after a jihadi stabbing attack by a local radicalised Muslim in the last few days.
I wonder would Mike have repeated his anecdote and laughed dismissively if his prospective converter was Muslim?
Mike sang a brilliant version of ‘Glastonbury Song’ last night the chorus of which is :
“I just found God
Yeah, I just found God
Yeah, I just found God where he always was
Hey, I just found God where he always was”
This is after he lists great things of beauty in this world.
Mike sees the divine in all these gifts of nature but is happy to laugh dismissively at Christianity and its central tenet that God is the creator of heaven and earth.
Mike, aren’t you lucky you were in a Christian based country which allows you to be dismissively offensive?
Try pulling a gag about ‘Mohammad’ at your next gig in Bradford and see how that works out for you.
In Mike’s ‘Glastonbury Song’ he repeats the refrain at the end:
“There is a green hill far away

Anyway, I got up early hit the road and arrived in Murrisk, Co. Mayo to tackle Croagh Patrick, a green hill not that far away from Galway city.
For the first time.
I got up and down safely, enough said.
The mountain has been renamed ‘Croagh Patrick E’…….well in my head anyway.
My only advice to anyone considering the climb is, don’t pass any stone with the shape of your arse on it.
Oh Mike, while at the top I said a prayer for your fantastic artistic soul.
You couldn’t be up to those sneaky Christians, could you?
The reason our country and our world is the current mess is because we have allowed ourselves to become ashamed of our Glorious Catholic heritage handed on to us by forefathers who suffered huge deprivations throughout 100’s of years😭
They’re land was stolen and they were genocided by the globalists at the time England👊
And sadly we deserve the destruction of civilisation because of falling for all the lies of materialism as dished out by the current globalist criminals who represent Satan😈
Sad that an artist like this has no understanding of the horrors of this totalitarian globalist oppression of truth😭
But he merely represents the majority in our country😭

The multicultural thing is a scam.....go around any 'multicultural' town or city in Europe and you will see people (in general) hanging around with people that look like themselves. Birds of a feather flock together. As for Scott - fuck off!
